About Food Says Hi

What it is

Take a photo or type a name on the scanner page. Food Says Hi returns a cautious field note: a likely match, the clues it can see, how the dish is commonly eaten and where it comes from. The site also keeps a small library of sourced field notes, food stories and practical guides.

A Food Passport keeps the notes you want to remember — saved only in this browser, with no account needed.

What it isn’t

A photo gives clues, not certainty. Neither a photograph nor a dish name confirms the ingredients, allergens or suitability of a particular serving, and Food Says Hi does not offer medical, allergy or nutrition advice.

Calorie and protein figures are approximate estimates tied to the portion and assumptions shown with them — not measurements or verified label values.

How it works

A lookup is sent only when you press the submit button. Your food name or resized photo, optional food-type choice, and optional note go to Qomza through this site’s Worker, and the result is a provisional reading — a likely match, never a confirmation.

Qomza’s gateway keeps what it receives for each lookup, along with the result it returns, in its records. These records are not deleted automatically; they stay there until the gateway operator removes them. The How it works page walks through a lookup, and the Privacy page explains exactly what is sent and how long it is kept.

Who runs it

Food Says Hi is operated by Qomza, LLC (opens in a new tab). Questions, corrections and privacy requests are welcome on the contact page.

The apps

The iOS and Android apps are in development. The web version is free to use today — no account needed.
